(Research) 3 Examples
Friday Night Cranks (YouTube)
Dubbed the biggest live internet prank call show Friday night cranks began streaming in 2007 on a weekly basis every Friday night. The show is very interactive with its audience who suggest all the prank ideas as well as phone numbers.
Not originally created for profit but more out of boredom by the main presenters Jared and Kristin who left for personal reasons after many years thus leaving complete creative direction to Jared who continues to run the show for its 8th year in a row to its worldwide fan base.
The most notable changes in the show since its inception have come from the over all production quality as well as expansion into a full time career instead of hobby.
The show now has its own website/merch and app as well as regular guests something that could not of been possible in the beginning
outside of the show there have been other
numerous projects including a book, songs and stage tour. Fans can also show support through patron there other income source outside of merch and iTunes sales.
All shows are now streamed live through YouTube its the only way you can watch the full show after it ends excerpts of the best calls are selected and posted on there YouTube channel.
The thing I like most about this show is the interactivity with its audience it feels very fan controlled and fan ran the presenters just act as the mouth piece. I also like if you miss the show live the best calls can be seen after usually the next day on YouTube. Things I don't like are the length of the show (3 hours) and also the time it is streamed in the UK is early hours of Saturday morning due to US and UK time differences.

The One Show is a weekly show presented live on BBC 1 from Monday to Friday it covers a variety of topics/stories from around the country for the most part the show is presented live from a studio with 2 presenters and special guests with an audience in attendance. Occasional there is a cutaway to pre recorded video packages on the subjects up for discussion.
One of the things I like about this show is they cover such a wide range of topics and have such diverse group of guests there is usually something for everyone to get into. This is also
something I don't like about the show because the topics and guests change every episode there is no incentive to watch every episode unless you know for a fact there is something you want to see.
Sunderland International Air-Show (YouTube)
The air show is a 3 day event held every year on the north-east sea front with the main attraction a few dozen vintage/modern military aircraft in flight .On the ground there is also stage performances/rides and sellers.
The whole day is streamed live on YouTube jumping back and forth to air displays and everything happening on the ground.

SESSION #4
Patreon - Is a crowd-funding website where creative people can present there ideas/projects or business to pre existing fans or a fresh new audience who can then decide to go on and donate a set monthly amount. Depending on the amount donated the patron will receive an award by whoever is receiving there donation the rewards vary for each creator as they are the ones who create the them. An example of a common reward is early access, exclusive content and Google hangouts.
Kickstarter - Is another example of a crowd-funding website similar to patreon with the main differences being there is a target goal set and a set time to achieve it by. Also there is no paying a monthly fee instead your donating towards 1 big project if the target amount is not reached in the time limit the project does not go ahead and the money is returned.
Audience Research
Lots of sitcoms reflect on the audience watching them there is generally a small group of main characters either Family, Friends or Work Colleges each with there own unique lifestyles and characteristics that draw people to the show with different lifestyles and personalities.
Sitcom Openings
Our show reminds me of the I.T crowd because just like our show there show features a few main characters who all con-grating in one place (Basement) of an office building where one dark Gothic character lives practically secluded in his own room that no one leaves or enters but he does occasionally come out
For our show opening I think we should have a How I met your mother Intro inspired style with multiple pics showcasing the different stages of Grief
Anger - punching someone / Holding someone over height
Acceptance - Eating Cakes/Smiling and being happy
Denial - Drinking Alcohol/Passed out
Bargaining - Selling / Counting money
Depression - Cupboard Door
Lighting - For this Job role I must work with the lighting designer (Abby) who will look at the script and plan the lighting required for each scene once all this is decided and there has been technical rehearsals to see what works/doesn't a final plan will be made for the real show in which I will operate the lighting desk on the day from the gallery and stay in constant radio contact.
When controlling this board my main job is to watch the sound levels and make sure they don't peak if they do happen to peak then I must turn down the dials.

(Research) Funding Sources
On the other hand if the target is reached to avoid people being conned kick starters policy is if a project is fully funded then the project must go through and failing to do so requires for the money to be returned.
Product Placement - Product placement is an advertising technique that goes back to the silent film era it is used by big and sometimes small companies to give their products more exposure. The way the company does this is by paying a small fee towards some media product e.g (film/show) and in return for their donation there product will be given screen time either being used, displayed or featured in the shot.
The reason companies do this is to create exposure in hopes that the audience will notice there product and go out and buy it.
All UK productions that feature product placement from 2011 onwards still have to abide by OFCOM's rules and also have to have a symbol at the beginning of the program informing people that product placement is featured through out.
COMMISSIONING - To assure more fairness in the industry big broadcasters such as the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 must commission out of house ideas, shows and projects.
If they think the idea is good enough they will develop the idea and possible make a pilot episode if this goes down well it could be picked up for further episodes.
E.G Before Q.I was picked up for TV an unaired pilot episode was produced
Lots of people consider product placement deceptive and unethical arguing that stand alone advertisements on TV breaks or before films are the times that should be for showcasing a product not throughout movies. OFCOM the people in charge of evaluating what goes on UK TV banned product placement in all UK made productions for many years before lifting the ban.
For many years only films and international shows (E.G American Idol) could be shown on UK TV that featured product placement, until the ban from OFCOM was lifted for the first time on the 28th February 2011 .

SPONSORSHIP - A sponsor is a person or organisation that will pay towards what is usually a large public event/show and in return they will receive some form of advertising from it. It is in the sponsors best interest to team up with the biggest star/trend of the time because that gives them the biggest audience possible.
The reason a sponsor would pay for someone like a singer to basically do what they already do but do it whilst using the sponsor's product or showcasing it is because the singer is always travelling around the world touring in large arenas with big audiences and being shown on the news constantly this gains the sponsor a wider audience that they maybe couldn't reach by themselves.
E.G
In the mid 1980s Michael Jackson was at the height of his career and an award winning artist with big commercial appeal being one of the biggest stars in the world after his album Thriller was released in Nov 1983.
In the mid 1980s Michael Jackson was at the height of his career and an award winning artist with big commercial appeal being one of the biggest stars in the world after his album Thriller was released in Nov 1983.
This popularity brought Jackson to Pepsi’s attention who approached Jackson and his brothers to try and strike a deal that would turn out to be the record breaking celebrity endorsement deal at that time at $5 Million dollars.
The first of many Pepsi and Jackson campaigns was (Pepsi Generation) which included advertising, tour sponsorship, public relations events and in store displays.
Jacksons advertising campaigns may not of helped Pepsi defeat Coca Cola in the soda drink wars which is what Pepsi where probably hoping for and in later years there was a lot of bad publicity involving the star that would not of helped Pepsi but his endorsement did make an impact for some time and helped boost sales

- Operate lighting console
- Turn overall power to 80
- ON/OFF SWITCH: (Back panel).
Because there is no changes in lighting throughout the show I literally have to fade in and out the lights at the beginning and the end of the show.
Sound Mixing - For this job role I must work with the sound designer (Andrew) who has decided instead of using boom operators (Being a live show with little to no breaks) to instead hang Rode Mic's from the lighting rig over the set while also setting up 1 microphone on a mic stand in the Kitchen where it will be out of the cameras shot. When controlling this board my main job is to watch the sound levels and make sure they don't peak if they do happen to peak then I must turn down the dials.
